Another great year sharing green sustainable ideas with the greater Huntington, WV community.
Month: May 2016
2nd Annual Huntington Sustainability Fair: MAY 21st LINEUP
The Huntington Sustainability Fair planning committee is pleased to announce our complete line-up of live music and area vendors/participants for the 2016 Fair (See Below).
The Huntington Sustainability Fair will be held this Saturday, May 21st, in Huntington's Central City at The Wild Ramp and the Central City Gazebo. This event will once again be free and open to the public.
Tour DePATH is among our participants, and will again offer their annual bike ride along the Paul Ambrose Trail for Health. There are three route options: 4 miles, 10 miles, and 26 miles. There is no fee, and community cyclists of all ages are invited to participate. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Goodwill Industries will be making infinity scarves from old clothes, and offering free Tech-Recycling, so bring your old tablets, phones, laptops, and printers to be recycled.
Marshall University Environmental Health and Safety, and the West Virginia Conservation Agency, will be hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop at 1:00 PM, so show up early and enter the raffle for a free rain barrel.
The first 25 participants in the Green Challenge will win a bag of free "Green Swag", so make sure to download our Green Calendar and take the challenge.
Other fair participants include area crafts-persons, artisans, food trucks, greenhouses, and farmers.
Following the fair, the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition will be hosting a reception and film showing of "Fridays at the Farm" and "Cowspiracy- The Sustainability Secret" from 4:15-7pm at their offices, 725 14th St. West.
“The fair will be filled with live music by local artists, crafts, local food, workshops and demonstrations“, said Eve Marcum-Atkinson, co-coordinator.
“This is a great opportunity for area residents to join us and discover new skills, enjoy being a part of our community and how to live a more sustainable lifestyle”. Said Denise Poole, co-coordinator. “It’s also the perfect way to support local artists and businesses” Poole added.
Coordinators Denise Poole and Eve Marcum-Atkinson encourage everyone to come learn, listen to live local music, and have fun.
